What's next.

I am writing this post from my phone because I can't access my laptop right now. We'll see how this goes…. In my second post on September 3, at the end I said "what's next is next."  Meaning my next post would be about what is next. Can I say next a few more times? Ok, one more next.  It might not be my last.  So what is next for me after retirement?  My pondering has led to:  I don't want to give up counseling others just because I am retired! Discontinuing being licensed by the state of Colorado will allow me to counsel others without: restrictions on what states people live in paying for liability insurance charting sessions and keeping medical records making diagnoses keeping up with continuing ed requirements and, most importantly without charging! Making plans.

In the book of James (in the New Testament of the Bible), chapter 4, verses 13-17, the writer addresses the subject of making plans . Several years ago, RevDel (another title for my HH) taught me about these two letters. It might have come up because someone signed an email with D.V.                               D.V. Deo Volente.    This latin phrase from 1767 means 'if God wil...

Shredding client files.

Del and I had an opportunity a few weeks ago to get free shredding at a local bank.  Del sorted our things and I sorted client files. Throughout my years as a psychotherapist in private practice, I have been obligated to keep client files for 7 years from the date of a client's last visit.  I have sorted clients' files into groups with labels denoting when a stash is ready to be shred.  The morning of our preparation, I found several groupings ready to be purged.  As I looked through them, double checking, I was sobered by the reality of                                                                                     THE END  OF A LONG, BELOVED SEASON. As of 4 days ago, August 31, 2025, I am now retir ed.  I ...
